Dalaman is the first step to the Mediterranean and Aegean regions of Turkey by plane and is situated on the southwestern coast of Turkey in Mugla Province. Dalaman is known for its international airport (Dalaman Airport) which serves as a gateway to the tourists who visit this part of Turkey every
year, especially for those heading to the seaside resorts to the west and east of Dalaman (Dalyan, Fethiye, Göcek and Köycegiz).

Dalaman is an area of natural beauty surrounded by irresistible bays, huge forests, and lakes. It is located between the sea and mountains and is rapidly becoming an area of destination rather than just a stop over on the way to some other resort towns. Recent investments in the Airport, roads and the continuous development of the area are making it more accessible.
Dalaman is unspoilt with fabulous orange, tangerine, grapefruit and lemon gardens. Over-development and exploitation of the area is prevented by the protection afforded to the rare loggerhead turtles that frequent the river and beach. This should ensure that Dalaman continues to develop in harmony with its surrounding environment and retain its natural beauty .
Dalaman is now rapidly becoming an investment area for many Europeans purchasing property for investment in Turkey. This is due to many factors with the town now being designated as a main tourist area with development of a new marina and golf courses already started.
Dalaman town itself has many shops, restaurants, bars and tea gardens and is growing rapidly due to the investment in the area. Dalaman has its own huge natural beach, which has so far avoided commercialisation, and provides a pleasant place to relax with its hosts of wildlife.
Since the new Dalaman Airport is opened, more and more visitors are attracted to the natural and historical beauties around Dalaman, especially the wonderful inlets, and bays around Kapidag peninsula that have always been spectacular spots for the blue cruise tours. Sarsala, Gobun, Bongus, Siralibük, Tasyaka bays and Baba, Nar and Peksimet Islands are particularly worth seeing!
The Dalaman River is one of the world's most popular rafting regions and rafting in the Dalaman River, is something that you should try.
Dalaman also plays host to one of Turkey's most spectacular series of lakes. Kapikargin village with a history of 130 years is known as the region of lakes. Kocagöl which is the largest and deepest ( 40 m ) of 4 lakes, is formed by the silt barricading the bay from the sea; and has a small island which shines like a diamond in the water. Badirnaz, Kargin and Kükürtlügol, lakes are connected to each other by canals. There are over 300 different plant species living around Kocagöl and 23 of them are indigenous.
There are lots of ancient sites around Dalaman. Lidai, Lissay, Crya and Kleopatra Hamam, Kalynda and the rock tombs at Kapidag, the Lycian rock tombs at Gökdag and Kayadibi, and the Hippokome antique site at Kavacik and Bozbel are all antiquities of times gone by that are worth seeing...
Sarigerme is only 12 km from Dalaman, and here you will find a lovely resort with a protected beach. The beach has been given the European Blue Flag for cleanliness. Sari germe boasts five-star holiday complexes and there are plans for an eighteen-hole golf course and four five-star golf hotels. Their construction is planned to start in late 2007. After a day relaxing or playing golf you can spend the evening having a drink or dancing in the exclusive night-club and discos.
Göcek is connected to Dalaman by an underground tunnel which takes only 5-10 minutes by car. The Göcek peninsula is surrounded by pine and Sigla (Amber tree) forests. It's a top venue for yachtsmen. It presents an outstanding holiday with its cleanliness, natural beauty and the town centre is just like any European sailing town. You can go sightseeing, go swimming, join in boat tours and enjoy the spectacular natural environment.
The nearby antique ruins of Arymasa, Lissae, Krya, Kalimache are also worth seeing.
Göcek as well as being popular with visiting yachts that come here for its excellent marina, is a charming resort with a range of sophisticated hotels and upmarket restaurants and boutiques.
