Residence

If you would like to reside in Turkey longer than the normal period (90 days) allowed to tourists, you will need a residence visa.

Visa

British and Irish passport holders are required to have a visa when travelling to Turkey. You can obtain a visa at the port of entry in Turkey or from the Turkish Consulate General in London.

Sticker type visas are issued at the port of entry and allow staying in Turkey for up to 90 days. It costs £10 for UK and €10 for Irish passport holders.

Those who wish to obtain entry visa from the Turkish Consulate in London should apply to the Consulate General. The visa lasts for up to a year, but only one exit is allowed. The fee is £40 and should be paid by postal order or cash only. A passport size picture should also be submitted during application.

It is advisable to have a minimum of six months validity on your passport from the date of your entry into Turkey.

Documents to Carry

Always carry proof of identity – your passport and ID card with you. You will frequently have to present them to enter various public establishments and private business plazas or simply to use for your purchases when using credit card.
